Unidentified bodies remain at mortuary
Kempton Park police need assistance in identifying the deceased
Kempton Park SAPS detectives request the assistance of the community to identify bodies of people who died as a result of motor vehicle accidents.
“An unidentified African female was hit by a vehicle while crossing the R21 on March 9 around 2.30pm,” said Const Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.
“The deceased was taken to Tembisa Hospital and admitted with serious injuries but died on March 14. She was wearing a pink T-shirt and was medium sized, according to the traffic officer who was on the scene. The deceased said her name was Amanda. It seems as though she was not a South African citizen.”
The second incident also occurred on the R21 around 6.15pm on December 13.
“An unknown African male was hit by a vehicle while crossing the R21. The deceased was wearing blue jeans, a blue T-shirt and white sneakers. He was in possession of a black plastic bag containing a navy blue jersey and a hat. The deceased died on the scene,” said Ditshego.
“The third incident occurred on the R21 on May 17 around 1pm when a pedestrian was knocked down by a vehicle. The deceased’s identity is unknown and he was in possession of a white bag with clothes and a pair of black and white sneakers with red shoelaces. The bag is at Kempton Park SAPS.”
The detectives are investigating cases of culpable homicide.
Ditshego also said people can go to Germiston mortuary to identify the bodies.
“All these bodies are at the Forensic Pathology Services in Germiston awaiting identification before pauper burials,” explained Ditshego.
