Authorities seize weapons and vape devices during school searches in Thembisa

EMPD conduct school search in Thembisa schools and find various things not required to be in learners pockets.

The EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit, in collaboration with the SAPS Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens and the CPF, conducted school searches at Bokamoso Secondary School and Boitumelong Secondary School in Thembisa on April 21, between 08:00 and 10:30.

The operation formed part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and security within school environments, with officers focusing on identifying and removing prohibited items such as weapons, drugs and other harmful substances.

The initiative also aimed to promote awareness among learners about the dangers of substance abuse, bullying and carrying dangerous weapons to school.

During the searches, officers confiscated several items, including 16 vape devices, one knife, 12 scissors, two gun lights, one snus and one hemp rolling paper.

Law enforcement authorities said such operations are intended to create safer learning environments and discourage behaviour that could endanger learners and staff.
