Norkem Park’s R100 petrol thief eventually caught

Are fuel hikes becoming too much for residents?

The looming petrol price hike might have been too much for a Norkem Park resident to bear, who is now being accused of petrol theft.

According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, a male suspect (24) poured R100 worth of petrol at a garage on Pongola River Drive on May 17.

“He then left the scene without paying,” Molokomme told Express.

However, employees of the garage were able to describe the alleged thief’s car to the police, which led to his arrest on Tuesday, two weeks after he allegedly sped off with stolen petrol in his tank.

The price of 95 unleaded and leaded petrol in Gauteng will increase by 72c/l, and diesel prices with 65.2c/l, next week Wednesday.
