Ekurhuleni North Police Cluster nabs 165 suspects in May

The police managed to achieve the arrests through stop-and-search operations, roadblocks, tracing and rapid response to complaints

Members of the Rabie Ridge SAPS and JMPD arrested 165 suspects for various crimes committed during their monthly crime operations in May.

According to Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer, Captain Matsobane Masela, the police managed to achieve the arrests through stop-and-search operations, roadblocks, tracing and rapid response to complaints.

“It was through the police’s teamwork and commitment that we had these successes,” said Masela.

Reckless and negligent driving: 10

Driving under the influence: 18

Possession of an unlicensed firearm: 1

Possession of drugs: 45

Theft: 3

Possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle: 4

Malicious damage to property: 7

Suspected stolen cable: 1

Possession of stolen property: 4

Burglary: 3

Assault: 15

Murder: 3

Armed robbery: 6

Shoplifting: 2

Domestic violence: 10

House robbery: 1

Possession of stolen motor vehicle: 1

Rape: 1

Attempted robbery: 2

Possession of house break-in implements: 3

Possession of hijacked vehicle: 4

Public drinking: 21.
