An Esselen Park man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly kidnapping, assaulting and raping a neighbour 32 years younger than him.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the 59-year-old suspect is well acquainted with his victim (27).
“It is alleged that the victim arrived home at about 3am on Friday,” Molokomme told Express.
“Her mother opened the front door for her. After a few minutes, a well-known neighbour demanded the door be opened for him or he would gain entry by force.”
The mother then opened the door for the suspect, upon which he apparently slapped her with his open hand and grabbed the victim from the house.
From there, he forcefully took her to Vusimusi in Tembisa, en route to which she was allegedly assaulted with a hammer.
“The victim further alleged she was taken into an RDP house in Vusimusi Section, where the suspect raped her,” Molokomme added.
According to the victim, her ordeal did not end there. She was taken back to the suspect’s home in Esselen Park, where she was continuously raped until 6am the next morning.
The alleged rapist was arrested two days later when a police sector vehicle responded to a call for police assistance at the suspect’s home.
The victim received medical care and was released. The suspect will face charges of assault, kidnapping and rape.
