Man sustains serious leg injuries in rear-end truck collision on R21

The driver of the second truck escaped injury.

A 30-year-old man was left seriously injured on Thursday morning following a rear-end collision between two trucks on the R21 in Irene.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the trucks in the middle of the busy highway said Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a 30-year-old man seated inside one of the trucks. Assessments showed he had sustained a serious injury to his legs.

Paramedics carefully extricated the man and treated him, as well as providing him with pain-relief medication. Once treated, the man was transported to a nearby private hospital for urgent treatment.

The driver of the second truck escaped injury.
