BREAKING: Police in 5-hour stand-off with knife-wielding Cresslawn man (video)

The SPCA went to the house after reports of the man killing a dog

A Cresslawn man suspected of killing a dog is currently in a standoff with police at a house on Turner Street.

The man, armed with a knife, earlier threatened a female staff member from Kempton Park SPCA and a man who helped her when they entered the house at around 1pm. Several policemen then followed, upon which the man threatened to kill himself.

As he held a knife to his heart, one of the policemen fell and he was attacked by the man with a pipe. The officer was treated for wounds to his face before ER24 paramedics took him to hospital.

Everybody left the premises and the man is alone inside. He still refuses to leave the premises and police are waiting for a tactical response team for assistance.

It is believed the SPCA found the dead dog outside the premises with a spoon in its mouth. It is not sure how the dog died.

It is reported that one shot was fired inside the premises but no-one was hurt.

Kira Sparrow, manager of the SPCA, was on the scene but refused to speak to Kempton Express.

This is a developing story and more information will follow.
