UPDATE: Suspect cracks smile as he gets into police van (video)
A section of Modderfontein Road near Parkland Drive in Esther Park has been closed following a shoot-out between police and fleeing robbers a short while ago.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area as it is still an active crime scene.
Ward councillor Tracey Lourenco said Sebenza SAPS told her the robbers were fleeing from Sandton and the chase went through Esther Park, ending close to Modderfontein Road.
Three suspects have been apprehended of which one was shot and wounded.
