Elgin Road: expect delays as road resurfacing is taking place

It is not clear what the extent of the work is

A section of Elgin Road between Soutpansberg Drive and Olienhout Avenue is currently being resurfaced, which will result in major traffic delays and lane restrictions.

Ward councillor Gideon van Zyl requests motorists to rather avoid Elgin Road while construction work is taking place.

Speaking to Express from the site on Wednesday afternoon, Van Zyl said the contractor confirmed the whole road, from Elgin Road to De Wiekus Road, would be resurfaced.

Van Zyl said construction work should last about a month.

Express reported in early April that the whole road would be resurfaced after a notice was handed to business owners by the contractor in March. However, nothing had materialised until now.

An enquiry sent to the City of Ekurhuleni about the project on May 17, trying to find out what is happening, went unanswered.
