An Isuzu LDV with a storage container which disappeared while being parked in Glen Marais, was traced to Tembisa the same day on Monday.
The driver alerted the owners and the tracking system was activated, said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson.
“On receiving te information at 3.30pm from a tracking company, metro police officers jumped into action and with the help of the GPS coordinates located the stolen vehicle in Tembisa at 4.10pm.
The vehicle was found abandoned. The thieves could not open the container of the LDV.
The recovered vehicle was taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for safekeeping and further investigations.
