TEA hosts its annual Young and In Charge Seminar

The founder Bulelani Balabala said: “The purpose of TEA is to empower township entrepreneurs with skills, enterprise development and to provide an access to the markets.”

In celebration of Youth Month, the Township Entrepreneurs Alliance, popularly known as TEA, hosted its second Annual Young and In Charge Seminar at Rabasotho Hall on June 23.

The second Annual Young and In Charge Seminar is among the monthly sessions hosted by TEA.

Various entrepreneurs who took part in the event included Sibusiso Ngwenya (founder of Skinny Sbu Socks, celebrity entrepreneur and speaker), Boipelo Mabe (communications and media, speaker, influencer, and Miss SA first Princess 2017), Weza Matomane (entrepreneur, CEO of WTG Media House, speaker, TV and radio personality, skills coach and master of ceremony), Mhlengi Mbuyazi (speaker, peer coach, social entrepreneur, author and deal facilitator) and Hezron Louw (Cheftestant on the first season on Top of ChefSA, speaker and co-owner of Sumting Fresh, which is a gourmet street food company in Johannesburg).

The TEA sessions are a platform where entrepreneurs and leaders are offered an opportunity to connect, develop and grow.

These sessions are free to attend and furthermore, they offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their businesses, to network, get motivation and guidance from industry experts.

The founder, Bulelani Balabala said, “The purpose of TEA is to empower township entrepreneurs with skills, enterprise development and to provide an access to the markets.”

The guest speakers provided insight into their entrepreneurial journey, lessons that they learnt and they motivated the attendees.

They shared sentiments relating to the importance of investing in local businesses, the importance of association, empowering yourself as an entrepreneur and emphasised on persistence in entrepreneurship.

The key lesson shared among the speakers was the ability to perform and excel in the midst of difficulties and challenges.

Weza Matomane emphasised the importance of having discipline as an entrepreneur.

Matomane defined discipline as getting the job done despite how you feel.

TEA will be celebrating its third year of the TEA sessions on July 21 at Moriting Park in Tembisa.
