OR Tambo Airport warns passengers about possible EFF protest action

Airport management also advises passengers travelling on Wednesday to follow news updates

Management of OR Tambo International Airport has received unconfirmed reports of possible protest action by members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) planned for today (Wednesday) and has advised passengers to allow for delays and longer travelling time to the airport.

Airport management advises that it is not aware of any particular reasons for the possible protest action, said Leigh Gunkel-Keuler, spokesperson of OR Tambo International Airport, in a statement issued shortly after noon.

“We remain in close contact with the various law enforcement agencies in order to ensure that all routes leading to and from the airport remain unaffected by any possible protest action.”

Airport management also advises passengers travelling on Wednesday to follow news updates on the possible protest action in order to ensure that they are aware of any potential delays. Where possible, passengers heading for the airport should use public transport such as buses and the Gautrain.
