Bophelong Fitness Club brings life to Tembisa Old Age Home
Tembisa Old Age Home will introduce a fitness programme for its patients.
Bophelong Fitness Club offered aerobic exercises at Tembisa Old Age Home to keep elderly people fit on Mandela Day.
On July 18, members of Bophelong Fitness Club, who are also senior citizens, shocked people with their surprisingly energetic moves.
The Fitness Club’s public relations officer, Khensani Manyike, said it was a joyous moment which gave the old people hope.
“I want South Africa to experience the healing power of exercise.
“We also have senior citizens who improved their health through Bophelong’s services and we would like to change the mindset of other senior citizens and lead by example,” said the director and founder of the club, Cathrine Mathebe.

The centre manager, Corny Mbuqe, was so impressed with the work done by Bophelong Fitness Club that she would like Tembisa Old Age Home to form a partnership with the club where senior citizens can be trained and motivated on weekly basis.
“Bophelong Fitness Club’s vision is to become the best fitness club in South Africa which alleviates disease through aerobics and dancing; no medication or equipment used,” added Mathebe.
The club operates through donations and is currently seeking sponsorships to fund their events, trips, equipment and uniforms.
