Zamokuhle private Hospital donates to hospice on Mandela Day

The children get assistance with homework and are served a lunch

In celebration of Mandela Day, Lenmend Zamokuhle Private Hospital, in partnership with their catering company Reef Healthcare, paid a visit to Arebaokeng Hospice in Hospital View.

According to the hospital customer relations officer, Petunia Mhangwane, the staff of Lenmend Zamokuhle Private Hospital and their partnered team cleaned up the centre and gave the school children toiletry packs consisting of a face cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste and soap.

“We also donated groceries for future use and polar fleece blankets to children attending crèche at the centre. As Nelson Mandela gave up his freedom for South Africans, we as a private hospital would like to reach out to the community we serve. In this instance, we did not do this outreach to make ourselves look good but to give hope to those needy families residing in the informal settlements around Zamokuhle. It is a matter of showing our people that we care about the society that we serve,” said Mhangwane.

Mhangwane added their goal was accomplished when they saw the smiles on the children’s faces.

“Every year we try to do various projects in and around Tembisa,” said Mhangwane.

Arebaokeng is a six bedded hospice which cares for critically ill patients.

They also run a day care centre whereby children get picked up and dropped off daily.

Arebaokeng also runs an aftercare centre where a bus collects children from the nearby informal settlements and brings them to the centre.

The children get assistance with homework and are served a lunch (most probably the only full meal they get each day).
