SASSA beneficiaries must withdraw money on old SASSA cards ASAP

It is important for all beneficiaries using the old SASSA card to swap their cards by the end of September

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has been inundated with beneficiaries indicating they still have money in their old SASSA cards and that they want to move it to the new gold SASSA card.

SASSA request such beneficiaries to collect their remaining social grant money from the old SASSA card by September 2018, said Nandi Mosia, SASSA Gauteng spokesperson on Tuesday.

“This is in line with the Constitutional Court ruling that provided SASSA with a six-month contract extension period for phasing in the South African Post Office and phasing out Cash Paymaster Services.

“Beneficiaries, when receiving the new card, are urged to keep the old card until the social grant money reflect on the new card. This is especially to beneficiaries who will replace their cards after August 20,” she added.

It is important for all beneficiaries using the old SASSA card to swap their cards by the end of September 2018. SASSA has offices opened in communities on Saturday to cater for beneficiaries who are not able to visit offices during the week.

To avoid stampedes, beneficiaries are urged to urgently change their old cards to the new gold SASSA card with immediate effect.
