Get out your pots and pans as residents face another waterless evening

Several burst pipes this week leave residents fuming

“Before the pipe in Glen Marais is fixed, we have a pipe hit in Silverleaf in Birchleigh by a contractor. A team is not on the ground yet, as both teams are busy.

“The team closing up Glen Marais will come through to Birchleigh when finished there, at which point the water will be shut down. Get your pots, your pans, your old kettles out and fill them with enough water for the evening.”

This was posted by ward councillor Gideon van Zyl around 7.30pm on Friday evening as Kempton Park residents expressed their dissatisfaction with Ekurhuleni Metro following continuous water outages this week.

Vam Zyl said once teams got on site it would take about four hours to restore water to the affected areas.

According to Van Zyl water to Glen Marais should have been restored by 8pm after teams ran into technical difficulties earlier today.

A burst pipe in the CBD on Friday morning caused water outages to several areas, including parts of Glen Marais.

So far, the metro has posted no tweet or anything on its Facebook page to inform residents of the situation and when water would be restored.
