Ekurhuleni North Cluster arrested 95 suspects from August 3 until August 6.
Communications officer for Ekurhuleni North Cluster Captain Neldah Sekgobela said 28 of the suspects were arrested for assault cases.
“Seven of the cases include domestic violence. Twenty-seven suspects were found in possession of dagga including three for drugs. Twenty-four were arrested for driving motor vehicles while under the influence of alcohol. Thirteen were arrested for shoplifting while others were arrested for cases ranging from possession of unlicensed firearms, suspected stolen property, fraud and reckless and negligent driving,” said Sekgobela.
She said among the suspects were two Mozambican nationals aged 25 and 38 who were arrested by members of Ivory Park Crime prevention on Sunday morning at 2am for illegal possession of three firearms which include two hunting rifles and a revolver.
“The two were also found in possession of 377 rounds of ammunition for those firearms, a pellet gun, a stolen Isuzu Bakkie, two bicycles, chainsaws, two grinders, silencer, clothing, pump and electrical appliances.
“An initial investigation revealed that the revolver and Isuzu bakkie were stolen in Lephalale,” said Sekgobela.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa, Kempton Park and Edenvale Magistrate’s Courts tomorrow to face their charges.
