Woman killed in head-on collision on R25

The surviving woman and the driver of the second car were transported to a nearby hospital

A head-on collision led to the death of a woman and the injury of two other people on Friday afternoon on the R25 between Bapsfontein and Bronkhorstspruit.

According to Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, paramedics from ER24, Life Healthcare and other services found a vehicle in the middle of the road and a second on the side. Both vehicles were seriously damaged in the collision.

“Paramedics found two women inside one of the vehicles. One was in a critical condition, while the second woman was in a serious condition,” Meiring said. One person was found injured in the second car.

Both women in the first car were provided with advanced life support interventions, but the critically injured woman succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead.

The surviving woman and the driver of the second car were transported to a nearby hospital.

“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,”Meiring concluded.
