Long-wanted suspect caught while digging in rubbish bins in CBD

A security officer recognised the man from a wanted poster

A man, who has been wanted since 2015, was caught in Kempton Park in the early hours of the morning on August 14.

An SSS Security reaction officer was called to premises on Long Street for suspicion of a trespasser.

Izak Wiedeman responded to the call and caught the suspect on the premises, digging in dustbins.

“I saw the man and recognised him from a wanted poster. I immediately called Kempton Park SAPS. There were three warrants of arrests for the suspect,” said Wiedeman.

Louis Brendon Mortlock (37) was detained at Kempton Park Police Station.

“A warrant of arrest for alleged possession of stolen motor vehicles was issued by Evander SAPS in Mpumalanga in 2015,” said Kempton Park Police Station’s spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali.
