Two alleged Van Riebeeck Park robbers were nabbed on Friday, following a house break-in in the neighbourhood.
Evidence found in their possession is connected to a house robbery in Roodepoort that took place earlier this month.
“The Van Riebeeck Park robbery was in progress at around 1pm when Cops Security and our sector vehicle responded,” Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, told Express.
Upon their arrival, the suspects had already fled the scene in Rooikrans Crescent.
“The complainant, who was in the house during the robbery attempt, gave officers a description of the suspects,” Molokomme added.
According to him, the suspects, aged 30 and 32, were tracked down in a nearby street.
“They were found with gloves and a Samsung cellphone.”
The phone was traced to an owner in Roodepoort, where robbers struck earlier this month.
