Festival Mall robbers grab R300 000’s jewellery in four minutes

One employee was in the store during the incident.

The seven robbers who struck at a Festival Mall jewellery store on Friday afternoon are still at large.

According to Capt Bernard Matimulane, spokesperson for Ivory Park SAPS, one man entered Jules of Kempton at around 2pm.

“Soon, he was followed by about six men, who started breaking the glass to get to the jewellery,” Matimulane told Express.

He added that the men made off with more than R300 000’s jewellery within four minutes.

Police believe the suspects drove off in a white bakkie.

One employee, who stood behind the counter during the incident, was left unharmed. “It is not clear whether the suspects were armed,” Matimulane said.
