Metro on track with Isando pipeline – water cuts still possible

The metro foresees that all repairs will be finished before sunrise on September 13.

The 25m-segment of the faulty pipe on Insado Road has been cut and removed across Isando Road.

Excavation works for preparation of bedding to lay the new steel pipe are also completed, said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro, on Wednesday afternoon.

The connection of the pipe to the existing water network and restoration of water supply will be finalised by Thursday.

Although the metro said the water supply had been shut down to make way for the repairs, ward councillor Jaco Terblanche said most residents had water the past day or so.

However, he warned that a shut down could still occur, which would leave many residents with low water pressure or no water at all.
