Gogo targeted by criminals in Rabie Ridge

They left her in the open veld promising to come back.

On September 12 an elderly woman of about 65 to 70 years was cornered by criminals who took her out of Rabie Ridge with a promise to help her get her money.

Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer Captain Mofana Masela said the suspects instructed the women to take her identity document and bank card along.

“When they arrived at a Clayville open field they took her bank card, identity document and requested her to give them the pin to access the money.

They left her in the open veld promising to come back.

She waited there until she decided to walk back to Rabie Ridge on her own without her identity document and bank card,” said Masela.

He said the community must be very alert of these criminals and the community must come forward with detailed information and the identity of the criminals so they can be brought to book.

“Don’t make deals with strangers.

“Gogos, beware because you are the most vulnerable and targeted victims in these types of crimes.

“The youth must stop victimising the elderly and take care of your grannies,” Masela advised.
