Women caught at Elgin Mall with cheese and spreads worth R1 900

One suspect was arrested for stealing beef stock worth R46.

Five suspects were arrested for shoplifting at Elgin Mall on Elgin Road, Birchleigh, over the weekend.

Items taken ranged from food to watches.

According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the first two alleged shoplifters were arrested on Friday at noon.

“Two women, aged 24 and 26, were caught by a security officer at the exit point with R1 900’s worth of cheese and spreads,” Molokomme told Express on Monday.

Two more suspects, men aged 20 and 24, were nabbed later the day with three watches worth R300.

On Sunday, the fifth suspect was arrested at 2.20pm for possession of beef stock worth R46.
