WATCH: Security officers chase ‘criminals’ in Glen Marais

After spotting the security, the suspects fled, with security hot on their heels

Four suspects in possession of house break-in implements were arrested in Glen Marais on Wednesday afternoon after local security chased them down.According to Const Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, security guards on duty spotted a suspicious-looking white Isuzu bakkie on Vlei Street at 2.45pm.

“The bakkie was parked next to a Vodacom tower’s gate with two males inside and two in the vehicle’s container,” Ditshego told Express.

“With them, they had a pick, grinder and hammer.”

Video footage taken by the security company showed the suspects used a car and not a bakkie as the police stated.

“We can’t discuss the details with the media at the moment as the matter is under investigation and it might jeopardise our investigation,” Ditshego said when asked for clarification.

After spotting the security officers, the suspects fled.

Further footage of the event shows security arresting one man on Braambos Street and a second patrol vehicle arriving with two more suspects found on the opposite side of the veld. The suspects were taken to the scene of the crime, and another suspect was found there.

“Four suspects, between the ages of 25 and 32, were charged for possession of house break-in implements,” Ditshego concluded.
