On September 25, Tembisa South SAPS sector members arrested a suspect for being in possession of illegal firearms, ammunition and a stolen vehicle.
Tembisa South SAPS communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela said SAPS members acted on a tip-off from the community regarding unlicensed firearms hidden at a house in Enhlanzeni Section.
“When SAPS members arrived they searched the place and recovered the following: one Astra pistol (serial number filed off), one brown sniper rifle, one brown and black Gamo junior hunter rifle, 45 308 Winchester ammunition, 51 38 Special ammunition, 42 red shotgun ammunition, 16 blue shotgun ammunition, seven white shotgun ammunition, one green shotgun ammunition, one brown rifle bag and one black bulletproof vest.
“They also recovered a white BMW (HH 43 CH GP) which was reported stolen in Germiston this month,” Sekgobela said.
She said one suspect, aged 38, was arrested for the recovered items.
