Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile is back in November

It’s all up to the athletes on race day to determine the split of the R1-million to the respective charities.

The Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile (Grade two) will be hosted at Turffontein Racecourse on November 3 for an event that gives back in the best possible way.

This race day sees fashionably dressed celebrities, charities and media partners join forces in what must be one of the most exciting events on the Highveld racing calendar and even more so on Joburg’s social calendar.

The main race will see 16 chosen charities, along with 16 celebrities and media partners formally paired up with 16 horses that are due to “burn the turf” at Turffontein. It’s all up to the athletes on race day to determine the split of the R1-million to the respective charities.

Turffontein Racecourse will also host the richest race for maidens, sponsored by Prince Albert II, the reigning monarch of Monaco, and several businessmen. Prince Albert II is no stranger to South Africa’s racetracks as his South African wife, Princess Charlene of Monaco, is a frequent guest and major contributor to this glorious industry.

The inaugural 20-horse Monaco Million Maiden Sprint over 1160m will give owners of a horse that is yet to have had a win an opportunity to win R500 000 with first prize, R175 000 for second, R100 000 for third and eventually the 10th placed runner will receive R10 000.

With an array of hospitality venues throughout the race course, including the spectacular City Deck, visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious meals while overlooking the parade ring and more importantly the action on the track.
