Tembisa SAPS arrests four Ecaleni men for possession of unlicensed firearms

Mgijima said the police were led to another house at Winnie Mandela Zone Two.

Tembisa SAPS has arrested four male suspects found in possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.

According to the station’s spokesperson, Const Patricia Mgijima, Const Willy Moruane and Const Tshepo Mashakeni, were patrolling around the area on October 8 when they received a tip-off about houses where firearms were kept.

“The police swiftly approached the house at Ecaleni Section, where three suspects, aged 18, 19 and 20, were found inside a shack. The police then asked to search the shack and permission was granted. Two rifles and four rounds of live ammunition were found. The suspects failed to produce licences for the rifles and the ammunition. They were arrested,” said Mgijima.

Mgijima said the police were led to another house at Winnie Mandela Zone Two.

“On arrival, the police found a 25-year-old man. They searched his shack and a rifle, and a Baby Browning (pistol) with eight rounds of live ammunition were found. He was also arrested and they were all detained at Tembisa SAPS,” said Mgijima.
