Birch Acres fraudster caught with stolen ID

The cashier suspected something wasn’t right.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Birch Acres on Wednesday after it came to light that the account he tried to buy clothes with was fraudulent.

According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the Norkem Park SAPS, the suspect tried to buy clothes worth R3 900 with a Truworths account.

“The cashier suspected the account was fake and called head office,” Molokomme told Express. “It was confirmed the rightful owner of the ID number had already closed the account.”

Police members were summoned and the suspect was arrested in Birch Acres Mall, on the corner of Andrew Mapheto Drive and Isimuku Street.
