Man nabbed for allegedly selling drugs to learners in Birch Acres

A police officer became suspicious when he saw children visiting the man more than once.

A man suspected of selling drugs to school children in Birch Acres was arrested last week Thursday after an off-duty officer caught him red-handed.

According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, W/O Moyahabo Moropo grew suspicious when he spotted youngsters, on more than one occasion, meeting the 31-year-old suspect at a park on Maraboe Street.

“Moropo approached the suspect and introduced himself as a police officer,” Molokomme told Express.

“He then searched the suspect, upon which he found 8.19g of cocaine and 72.19g of dagga.” These drugs have an estimated street value of R3 000.

The suspect was arrested for possessing and dealing drugs.

“The station commander of Norkem Park SAPS, Col Tobias Strauss, appreciated the good work done by the officer,” Molokomme added.
