In the early hours of October 12, the EMPD Public Order Policing Task Team members, together with the SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit, arrested two male suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms.
According to the EMPD Spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, one suspect was arrested at Ivory Park and the other one in Tembisa.
“Both arrests took place between 1am and 2am. One suspect found in possession of a 9mm CZ100 with its serial number filed off and loaded with 11 rounds of live ammunition was arrested at a house on Ndovhua Street at Extension Seven in Ivory Park, Midrand. The second suspect, also found in possession of a 9mm pistol with both its make and serial numbers filed off and loaded with 15 rounds of live ammunition was arrested at his place in Mthambeka Section in Tembisa,” said Kgasago.
Kgasago added the arrested suspects, aged 38 and 37, were detained at Ivory Park and Tembisa police stations on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
