Father hands himself over after son’s shooting death

An ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital.

A father has been arrested for allegedly shooting his son to death following an “argument”, said Tembisa SAPS communications officer Capt Manyadza Ralidzivha.

The 59-year-old man handed himself over to the police on October 13 at 3.30am for allegedly shooting his 24-year-old.

Ralidzivha said allegations are that the father, a security officer at Wynberg, was in possession of his work firearm.

“He was with his son in the room on October 12 at about 7.30pm when his daughter heard the sound of a shot coming from the room. The deceased’s sister immediately went into the room to check what was happening. She found her brother lying in a pool of blood. The father came out of the room shouting about his son,” added Ralidzivha.

He said an ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital.

“He died while he was still in the hospital’s casualty ward. A case of murder was opened at the station. The suspect handed himself over to the police. He was arrested for the murder.
