Reservoir problems lead to yet another water cut

The same residents sit without water again today

The current spate of burst water pipes could be attributed to problems at the Isando reservoir, says ward councillor Jaco Terblanche.

Following a water outage on Monday, the same residents are again without water or have low pressure on Tuesday morning.

The areas affected are Kempton Park extensions, Kempton Park Ext 2-4, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Glen Marais and Allen Grove.

According to Terblanche the pressure at the Isando reservoir cannot be regulated due to faults, resulting in too high water pressure. This again causes water pipes to burst, he told Express on Monday morning.

Around midnight last night a pipe burst on the corner of Concourse Crescent and Monument Road. At 5am another one burst on Bosch Street.

Terblanche said the metro advised that water would be restored by 2pm on Tuesday. “However, if the metro only opens the main line, which had to be closed, water will only be restored by about 4pm.”
