Three behind bars after tampering with electricity at their shop

The operation was conducted from 4am on October 19 and ended around 10am.

The EMPD Precinct officers and Security and Standards Unit members, together with the City of Ekurhuleni Energy Department personnel, invaded Madelakufa Informal Settlement and Phomolong in a crime prevention drive and targeted eradicating illegal power connections.

According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, two male foreign nationals in their 30s were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and were detained at Tembisa Police Station.

Three other suspects were handcuffed for tampering with energy infrastructure at their business establishment and were detained at Rabie Ridge SAPS.

All arrested are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
