A bunch of burglars were caught on CCTV when they broke into a stationary store at Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Carrying their own bags, they made off with printer cartridges worth about R50 000 in split seconds.
Kempton Park SAPS needs the community’s assistance to help find the men captured on the footage at Rulerite Stationers.
“It is alleged security officers received information about a burglary at the shop,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.
“Police were summoned to the scene at about 5am.”
The CCTV footage shows four suspects entering the store, carrying two large bags, taking products on display in split seconds.
“They stole all the printer consumables. The strange part is they were right next to the till but they didn’t touch it. There were also laptops they didn’t take,” said one of the store’s directors.
“It appears they knew exactly what they wanted and what they came for. This sounds very similar to the incident at FotoConnect at Goodies for Gardens.”

The director also told Express: “We know we may never find the stolen items but we thought we should let people know about this so we can try and protect the other shops and prevent this from happening to others.”
One of the suspects entered the shop holding a screwdriver which is a the suspected break-in implement used to break open the door lock. Soon after, three more suspects enter the store with bags and begin to load the cartridges and toners.
It is evident in the footage that the suspects wore gloves.
“Detectives are investigating a business burglary case and police appeal to anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 08600 10111 or send an SMS to the crime line (32211).”
Some witnesses alleged they saw the vehicle used by the suspects and took the registration number. The Rulerite director said the metro police traced this number to a different vehicle than the one suspected to have been used.
