Ivory Park man killed in cold blood at his home

The 47-year-old man, Gezani Baloyi, is alleged to have been shot

Station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo has expressed shock at the brutal killing of an Ivory Park man by a group of robbers.

Ngcobo has called on anyone with information to assist the police with their investigation.

The 47-year-old man, Gezani Baloyi, is alleged to have been shot at his home by unknown six men on October 29 at about 8pm. A woman who rented an outside room was assaulted and robbed of her cash.

Ivory Park SAPS communications officer Capt Bernard Matimulane said the motive might have been robbery. He added the suspects assaulted a woman in her rented room. They threatened to shoot her child dead if she did not give them cash.

“The woman is a hawker,” said Matimulane.

“The man was shot at close range. He died on the scene.”

“When they were given the money, the suspects quickly left the place,” Matimulane said.

“We call upon anyone with whatever piece of information to come forward to assist us in solving the senseless killing of an innocent person,” said Ngcobo.
