Shoddy work by contractor employed by City
Both the metro and Matiyane Civils failed to respond to queries.
A missing drain and paving not repaired are evidence of what seems to be another bungled job by a contractor hired by the City of Ekurhuleni.
A company on Rigger Road in Spartan has been battling for months to have their driveway entrance fixed after rehabilitation work to the road was done by Matiyane Civils from Middelburg.
Manager of Firstmotion Hennie Dalton said he had been trying since the middle of August to contact the civil construction company to fix the mess they had left but to no avail.
Dalton said a notice had been delivered to the company in April by Matiyani Civils informing them the construction work would start on April 11.

The work to be carried out, according to the notice, included the removal and replacement of kerbs and the milling and resurfacing of Rigger Road. The notice stated the work was done on behalf of the city. The work would last for about six weeks, and this would affect the traffic.
Several numbers of people to contact were listed in the letter.
Dalton said the work lasted much longer until July. “They just ignored us and did not even answer the numbers supplied on their notice.”
He said it would be a complete waste of taxpayers’ money to pay this company for its work.
“And why appoint somebody from Middelburg? I am sure there are many capable people in Kempton Park.”
Kempton Express sent emails to two different email addresses of the construction company. One was obtained from their website and the other from the notice delivered to Rigger Road companies. The civil construction company did not reply to any of them.
The city failed to reply to questions sent to them.
