LISTEN: Faceless star back in Tembisa to shoot music video

Tembisa small businesses benefit from the return of Mzekezeke.

Mzekezeke, the faceless Kwaito star, shot a music video of his latest song Nayilento in Tembisa on Monday to empower local entrepreneurs.

Tembisa music lovers were excited to welcome back the famous Kwaito star following his long absence from the music scene.

Nayilento was released under a new record label, Mzekezeke Music, which was co-founded by Mzekezeke and DJ Sbu.

Mzekezeke said the reason he chose to shoot the video in Tembisa is that he comes from the township and loves it.

He said the song will be released on November 2.

“Nayilento is produced by Drum Pope and Mjakes, who worked with Robbie Malinga, and features Siya Shezi, who does the rapping.

“This will be the song of the year,” said the S’Guqa Ngamadolo star.

He said the brands he featured in the video are strictly South Africa brands because people need to support local brands.

“We are tired of international brands. The brands we feature in Mzekezeke Music videos are Kasi brands.

“All the brands you will see in my videos are 100 per cent local,” said Mzekezeke.

Mzekezeke entertained his Tembisa fans with a surprise return to music.

Social entrepreneur Solly Mankga said they are very proud of what Mzekezeke has done to revive Kasi.

“Coming back to Kasi and shooting a music video here is to encourage young people that they can still make it. If you have kwaito talent, work hard because Mzekezeke is here to inspire you,” Mankga proudly said.

Co-owner of Loko Flame Premium Vodka Lindiwe Mthelezulu said being part of the music video gave them an opportunity and a platform to showcase their brand.

Mzekezeke visits Tembisa.

“The support was immense and what we saw today was a true appreciation of Mzekezeke and what he has been doing over the past years,” said Mthelezulu.

CEO of clothing brand Napken Sibusiso Nkabinde said not everyone gets such an opportunity to showcase their brand for free.

“This is part of our marketing and we thank Mzekezeke for upholding the mentality of supporting local brands.

“We also want to thank The Tembisan for covering this history in the making,” said Nkabinde.

Mzekezeke makes a comeback to the music scene.

Mzekezeke fans are happy.
