A 28-year-old man involved in an accident with his father’s car was arrested on Tuesday after claiming the car had been hijacked.

The man will face a charge of perjury in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, the man was involved in an accident on Pretoria Road opposite the EWC campus on October 26 at around 7pm. He then reported to police he had been hijacked by three men.

Mtshali said during police investigations, the father realised his son was involved in an accident and the car was towed to a pound for safekeeping.
