Olifantsfontein SAPS investigating woman’s death

Serakwana said the man ran to the side of the road to seek help

The body of an unknown woman was found in an open field in Olifantsfontein next to the R25 on November 14 at about 12 noon.

Olifantsfontein SAPS communications officer Const Mokete Serakwana said a man was busy collecting bottles for recycling in the field when he noticed a bad smell .

“He then noticed something two metres away from where he was standing. He went to check what it was. The witness noticed the body of an African female, unknown to him, lying face down on the ground. She was wearing a black leather jacket, a black bodysuit and white tights,” said Serakwana.

Serakwana said the man ran to the side of the road to seek help because he did have a cellphone to report what he had found.

“He was assisted by security officers who phoned the SAPS. Paramedics were called and the woman was declared dead on the scene,” said Serakwana.

Olifantsfontein SAPS is appealing to members of the community to come forward and assist in identifying the body. Anyone who has someone missing can also come forward.
