Three more behind bars for speeding, this time on CR Swart Drive

Various other drivers were also fined for other traffic offenses

Three more speedsters in Kempton Park ended up behind bars on Saturday following another operation by the metro police.

This time they were caught on CR Swart Drive. On Wednesday five drivers were arrested for exceeding the speed limit on Duvenhage Street in Edleen.

On Saturday, between 6am and 6.30am, three drivers were nabbed doing well over the speed limit of 70km/h on CR Swart Drive, said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the metro police.
He said most drivers travelling either towards Kempton Park CBD or towards Edleen drive at unsafe speeds on CR Swart Drive.

At 6.09am a 28-year-old male in a VW sedan was caught doing 130km/h.

At 6.13am a 34-year-old male in a Renault sedan clocked 111km/h, claimimg he was rushing to pick up colleagues.
The third arrested speedster was a 44-year-old female driver behind the wheel of a VW sedan who was clocked at 109km/h.

The trio was locked up at Kempton Park Police Station on charges of reckless and negligent driving.
They were later released after posting bail of R1 000 each.

Kgasago said 15 other drivers were issued spot summonses for disregarding the speed limit.

Ten other drivers received fines for using a cellphone without a hands-free kit, disregarding traffic signals, overtaking on a barrier line, seatbelt not fastened, number plate not displayed and without a driver’s license in the vehicle.
