Ekurhuleni to close community pools over festive season

According to the City, they have the swimmers’ best interest at heart.

Locals will have to find another way to cool down this festive season, as the City of Ekurhuleni has decided to close all community pools from December 21 to January 2, 2019.

According to Clr Dora Mlambo, MMC for community services, the council’s decision is a safety precaution.

“A limited number of officials, such as lifeguards, will be available during this time as they are on leave,” Mlambo said in a statement. “This may pose a challenge in adhering to basic health and safety requirements at the facilities.”Mlambo said the City acknowledged the inconvenience of this closure, but that “the safety of the swimmers is the City’s first priority.”

Local community pools will be closed at 6pm on December 21 and re-open on January 2 in the New Year.
