Locals shouldn’t make road violations, drug possession and other crimes a part of their holiday itinerary, as the local police force is hard at work to keep the streets of Kempton Park clean.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the Norkem Park SAPS, their station took hands with the EMPD to arrest 41 suspects over the weekend.
An operation on the evening of December 14 until the early hours of December 15 netted six drunk drivers.
The arrest also included two suspected armed robbers.
“The suspects, aged 22 and 35, were found with a toy gun,” Molokomme told Express on Tuesday.
“They used it to rob someone of their cellphone.”The second operation, which took place from 2pm to 10pm on December 15, saw a total of 27 arrests, which included drunken driving, possession and dealing of dagga, shoplifting and assault.
“This is the beginning of our festive season operations,” Molokomme concluded, “operations will continue until January 2019.”
