Joint police operation nets 39 suspects

The suspects were arrested for various charges.

Crime prevention operations in Kempton Park and Tembisa areas saw the arrest of 39 suspects the past weekend.

The operations were a joint effort between the Ekurhuleni North Cluster and the metro police.

The suspects were arrested for various charges. Driving under the influence of alcohol was the leading charge with 15 arrests.

“Five suspects were arrested for fraud, one for murder, one for attempted murder, two for possession of drugs, two for theft, two for business burglary, two for malicious damage to property, three for armed robbery, one for hijacking, one for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, one for robbery, two for common assault and one for shoplifting,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“All the suspects will appear in Kempton Park and Tembisa Magistrate’s courts respectively.”
