Suspects caught in the act in Festival Mall parking area

Security officers at Festival Mall assisted in the arrest of two suspects who were allegedly stealing goods from a vehicle.

The alertness of security officers at Festival Mall lead to the arrest of two suspects on Friday.

The officers noticed two men tampering with a white Nissan NP200 bakkie while the owner was inside the mall.

“When the owner returned to his vehicle, he found two officers handling the suspects, who had tried to steal goods that were inside the bakkie. The canopy door was forced open,” said Const Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The police were summoned to the scene and the two suspects, aged 44 and 46, were arrested on charges of theft out of a motor vehicle.”

Ditshego said the station commander, Brig Samuel Maredi, applauded the security officers who effected the arrests.

“Maredi hopes the suspects can be linked to the spate of similar incidents that have been occurring for four months in the Kempton Park central business district area where Nissan NP200 bakkies were targeted,” concluded Ditshego.
