Running thief sentenced to 18 months in jail

Ntsikelelo Ngqumoza was found guilty of theft out of a motor vehicle.

Ntsikelelo Ngqumoza was sentenced at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court to three years’ imprisonment half suspended for five years on January 28.

Ngqumoza was found guilty of theft out of a motor vehicle.

“The incident occurred in August 2018. The victim was driving a state vehicle and stopped on the corner of Casuarina and Long streets. Ngqumoza jumped in the bakkie and stole an electrical cable and ran away,” said Const Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The victim gave chase and managed to catch Ngqumoza, who was later arrested by police.”

The case was investigated by Det Const Noko Teffo.
