A main sewer line running through Kempton Park Golf Club has made the third hole almost unplayable, with golfers having to duck the raw sewage on the fairway.
An unbearable stench also fills the air and many members and guests are complaining.
According to Craig Bell, general manager of the club, the line is adjacent to Elim Clinic and this happens every time there is a major down pour of rain.

Bell said the last time they reported the problem to the City of Ekurhuleni was in December. It took the metro 21 days to respond.
Last week the metro came out to pump the drain empty but the problem is ongoing, as the pipes are blocked and every time it rains the drain cover pops and the course is polluted yet again.
Asked how the club coped with the problem, Bell said: “We don’t really, it is or has been a health hazard to members and guests. There is nothing we can actually do. We did call in some help with members that work at the council.”
The metro did not reply to Kempton Express’ queries.
