The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed the estimated restoration of power to the CBD to ward councillor Simon Lapping as 6pm on Thursday evening.

Kempton Park Central Business District (CBD) is still without power with no light at the end of the tunnel.

The power outage is now in its second day with the City of Ekurhuleni providing hardly any information about what caused the outage.

At 5am on Wednesday morning the metro tweeted that they were aware of the outage and was attending to it.

Ward councillor Simon Lapping informed Express just after 7am on Thursday morning that the power would be restored at around 11am. However, this did not happen.

The latest information he received after noon, reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, our repairs works in Kempton Park CBD have taken longer than anticipated, estimated restoration will be communicated.”
