Three suspects were arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday last week at Festival Mall.
The arrest was the result of a tip-off Kempton Park SAPS received about a suspicious-looking vehicle at Festival Mall.
“When police arrived, they found a silver Honda in the mall’s parking area with three occupants inside,” said Const Dipuo Disthego, deputy spokesperson at Kempton Park SAPS.
“Officers enquired about the vehicle and it was discovered it was hijacked in Pretoria in January. Police searched the vehicle and found an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
“All three suspects, aged 30, 31 and 51, were detained at Kempton Park Police Station.”
