Ivory Park murder suspect hands himself over to police

Ivory Park murder suspect has finally handed himself over to police.

AN Ivory Park man who had been on the run since December handed himself over to the police on February 25.

He has been sought in connection with a murder case.

Ivory Park SAPS Capt Bernard Matimulane said the 37-year-old suspect is alleged to have shot another man in the abdomen during a drinking session at a local tavern in early December 2018. The victim (32) later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

“Since then Ivory Park detectives have been searching for him, visiting each and every place the suspect was staying at or visiting. The pressure must have been a lot, until he decided to, in the presence of his lawyer, hand himself over on Monday.

“Ivory Park station commander Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo thanked his detectives for their unwavering determination in looking for, and thus exerting pressure on the suspect until he decided the best thing under the circumstances was for him to hand himself over,” added Matimulane.
